Ankle Arthroscopy is one minimally invasive surgical procedure performed at our clinic to diagnose and treat conditions and issues associated with the ankle joint. Our doctors are able to carefully evaluate all the tissues including bone, cartilage, tendons and ligaments. This procedure involves the use of magnifying lenses as well as the insertion of a ‘fiber-optic’ camera and instruments through a few extremely small incisions within the ankle joint and can be used to treat the following:

  • Repair ligaments or tendons in the ankle
  • Osteochondral injuries
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Removal of bone spurs (smooth, hard bumps of extra bone that form on the end of bones - these often emerge in the joints)
  • Removal of tissue that is causing Arthritis or pain
  • Acute Ankle Sprains
  • Athlete’s Ankle or Anterior ankle impingement - Buildup or bone spurs or scar tissue occur on the front of the ankle joint causing pain.
  • Anterolateral Ankle Impingement - a condition in which soft tissue or bone of the front ankle joint are inflamed as the result of repetitive stress, causing swelling and pain within the ankle joint.
  • Synovitis (inflamed ankle joint which leads to pain, swelling and less motion)
